Clicking in empty spaces collapses the active file workspace folder

In a workspace that contains directories configured in a workspace similar to the JSON example below. Clicking on empty file space, as in space that has no line numbers, collapses the directory hierarchy. For example, clicking on empty space in Each directory has an arbitrary number of sub-directories containing files.
